Bass Harbor Head Light Station

Bass Harbor Head Light Station

Mount Desert Island, Maine
Built in 1858

Bass Harbor Light marks the entrance to Blue Hill Bay, on the west side
of Mount Desert Island. Perched high on rocky ledges, it is among the most picturesque
lighthouses anywhere. It is still an active lighthouse and its range is 13 miles.
