Lighthouses of the Carolinas Notecard Box Set

These beautiful lighthouses have survived much more than treacherous weather. One survived the Revolutionary War and all of the lighthouses were damaged during the Civil War. Some were even shelled by German submarines during World War II.

Today there are still 18 beacons along the Carolina coast still standing. These beacons are no longer necessary because of radar and sonar, but when they were built, they were crucial to all marine traffic. North Carolina's Outer Banks are nicknamed "Graveyard of the Atlantic", because over 600 ships have sunk in this area. South Carolina's coast is just as treacherous, so these lighthouses have served well over the years guiding ships safely through these rough waters.
